Keep in mind when planting that Jersey Knight is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea).

Soil temperature should be kept higher than 21°C / 70°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Jersey Knight about 90 days before your last frost date.

Make sure the soil is at least 50-degrees Fahrenheit before planting outdoors.

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Jersey Knight is a hardy plant.

Don’t harvest the first year. Very light harvest the second year, and normal harvest thereafter.
