So far, a strong and cold-hardy lettuce in my Zone 5 garden. Stood up just fine to cut-and-come-again, and survived the winter under snow unprotected for a truly early spring salad.

Easy to grow. Very tasty lettuce. Held on in the heat quite well without becoming bitter until the very end – last harvest was around July 1 after some very hot weather.

These have wintered well in large containers, under fleece, growing slowly even in the cold. Spurt of growth in spring to provide welcome early salad. Pleasant flavour, no bitterness.

Gorgeous, very red lettuce. Small early leaves are tasty, but gets bitter quickly even in Fall.

A great lettuce. Can be picked leaf by leaf. Grew well, but inconsistent watering probably contributed to it bolting.

A great addition to salads, this plant has performed well in our garden. Unlike most other lettuce, the birds seem disinterested in scratching out seedlings.

Not really impressed. Four plants stayed very small & leaves very small. Most actually used on sandwiches. Did continue to grow after picking. Took til late Aug for bolting. 1st time, not likely again

not head forming, and strong and somewhat bitter tasting, like wild lettuce but not quite as bitter, more like arugula but different. young leaves are great in salads or on sandwiches.

Very good bolt resistance and does well as a cut and come again variety for me – I’ve torn them about an inch from the base ~3-4 times between May and July and they’re still producing more leaves.

This is my favourite “general purpose” lettuce. It grows well in a cold frame and overwinters reliably, the seed is OP and reasonably priced, and the flavour is good.
