How to grow Rice

Oryza sativa

Rice can either be grown waterlogged, which is more suitable in areas with tropical or subtropical climates with high water supplies, or cultivated in dry land.

Some Rice varieties particularly the the native types prefer non-waterlogged soil, but because it is negatively affected to a higher extent from weeds than it is waterlogging, it is typically grown in waterlogged conditions to prevent weed growth. Therefore, areas in which directly-seeded rice is grown must be weeded intensively.
