How to grow Potato 'Sapphire'

  • Partial Sun

  • Medium

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Sapphire is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. Sapphire needs a loamy and clay soil with a ph of 5.0 to 6.0 (moderately acidic soil to weakly acidic soil).

Growing Sapphire from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 11.7 inches (30.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 5.85 inches (15.0 cm).

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Sapphire about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Sapphire

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Sapphire is a tender plant.
