Water well for the first season or two after planting out. Pruning should be done immediately after peak bloom in the spring.

Plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Betty is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures.

Growing Betty from seed

Cannot be grown from seed. Propagate by rooting hardwood cuttings.

Transplanting Betty

Avoid planting in southern exposure locations close to buildings where buds may be induced to open to early in the springtime. Mulch new transplants. Established plants should be dug only in spring, but purchased/container-grown plants may be planted out anytime.

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Betty is a hardy plant.
