How to grow Cashew Nut Tree

Anacardium occidentale

Growing Cashew nut tree from seed

Fresh seeds bought soon after stocks advertised. Have read that viable seeds tend to sink in water, yellow variety floated less. Avoid skin contact with seeds because of toxins. Seedlings will root into peat compost when surface sown. 6 out of 10 seeds (yellow fruited variety) grew within 25 days from 1 packet, another variety (red, larger seeds) had not shown any germination in that time.

For optimal germination, soil temperature should be a minimum of 22°C / 72°F.
