Tough as nails, easy to grow organically. Tolerated heat, soil nematodes, powdery mildew, some flooding, brief drought, poor rocky soil, pest insects, even some breakage and root disturbance. Just kept right on making beans!

A favorite of ours. Very prolific. Delicious steamed together with some green beans, beets, thinly sliced onions,home-grown Basil and a little sea salt. Plants need to be supported for best crop.

An excellent pole bean. Unfortunately, also a favorite of my local neighbourhood deer.

Very hardy, and came back even after a major deer munching.

They should be picked while smaller than you would think for pole beans, because they get unpleasant tough really quickly when they are bigger – maybe these are better for dried beans then as

Soaked seeds overnight pre-sowing; bad idea as most rotted. Few germinated (5of18) by Day 5 with true leaves Day 7, flowers- Day 40 & harvest Day 52-110. Compact plant with good (not huge) steady yield of great beans for 58 days. Very little blossom drop

I planted too many. I soaked the whole package so I was running around looking for places to poke extra beans into.

Growing Good. about 3-4 inches tall.

Really very tasty, vigorous, hearty, though it needed staking more than I was led to believe. The pods were beautiful and cooked up tender. I wish I had grown more to dry for later.

These proved to be a basic, edible green bean for me. I’ve figured out I’m just not crazy about pole beans, but these were OK.

These didn’t seem to like the location very much — too much shade — but they were an OK bean.

These are pretty as the beans form — the purple is lovely and noteworthy — but I wasn’t thrilled with the taste when I steamed the beans. If I plant pole beans again I’ll go with Rattlesnake Pole instead of these.

These grew nicely and were very tasty. I like the look of them and they produced fairly well, although this location wasn’t ideal (too much shade).

These are really tasty beans, and I enjoy the look of them. I’ve figured out I’m not all that crazy about pole beans, but if I plant any again, this variety is a good one for me.

Much better than ’Dragon’s tongue’ I’ve grown before. Nice, straight beans with a good snap/crunch.

Grew really well, very easy at least for 5a. Harvest was pretty good

I’ve planted the bush type. These plants are highly productive. The pods are beautiful (curved, marbled, with purple markings). Cooked they are green, tasty and with a nice buttery texture.

Delicious, tender haricots vertes. Plants bear fairly well. Harvest lasts till frost. Pods are about 3" to 4", and green.

These beans seemed to sporadically produce in my garden, but those I managed to harvest were tasty. I’Il grow some of these again if I want to grow pole beans, but I’d probably plant more Rattlesnake Pole as well.

Same as my Peas. Started too early and already producing while there was still snow on the ground. Into the compost they went.

This bean grew well with no problems. Adds variety to the bean harvest as it is a thin “gourmet” type. However, it does have a tendency to go fibrous if left too long before harvest (so check daily).

These are tasty beans! I left some on the vine too long and froze them on a whim even though they seemed a bit fibrous – once blanched they tasted great and kept well in the freezer until mid-winter.

I was lucky enough to find this variety at a Seedy Saturday and it quickly became a favourite. Highly adaptive to many climates, this variety produces like made on huge vines. A must grow every year.

We absolutely love these beans! Compact, very prolific, and the beans taste amazing. We never knew beans could taste this good! This will be a keeper for our garden from here on out.

These beans have done well, but not as prolific as other varieties such as Provider. A great, tasty bean and extremely easy to grow!
