How to grow Sage 'Icterina'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

This salvia does better if in part sun. Can be kept in an adequate container.

Icterina likes a position of full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Icterina is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures. Planting Icterina in loamy and sandy soil with a ph of between 4.9 and 8.2 is ideal for as it does best in moderately acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Icterina from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 0.98 inches (2.5 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.23 inches (0.6 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 15°C / 59°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Icterina about 84 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Icterina

As Icterina is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
