In the garden these plants are practically carefree except for trimming and, if they spontaneously sprouted, may need some support as they grow.

Plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Haight Ashbury is thought of as tender, so it is really important to ensure that the outside temperature is well above freezing before planting or moving outdoors.

Growing Haight Ashbury from seed

In zone 9 the seeds of these plants will drop to the ground and they will self sow. If you do not want any volunteer plants trim the seed pods before they open and fall to the ground. The seedlings can be transplanted where you wish them to grow.

Look to ensure a distance 5.94 inches (15.24 cm) between seeds when sowing - bury at a depth of at least 0.2 inches (0.51 cm) deep. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 22°C / 72°F to ensure good germination.
