The former major commercial variety before Panama disease wiped out the plantations and Cavendish was put into production to replace it. Gros Michel now only survives in Thailand where it is known as Kluai hom thong and in private collections.
Not recommended for growing in Southern Florida due to Panama disease being epidemic there.This variety is a Herb that typically grows as an Perennial, which is defined as a plant that matures and completes its lifecycle over the course of three years or more.
