How to grow Sunflower 'Giant Russian'

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Giant Russian is thought of as half hardy, so it will need protecting in periods of cold weather. Use USDA Hardiness Zone 4 - 9 as your guideline for the appropriate climate for this plant. Try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 5.7 and 8.1 as Giant Russian likes to be in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Giant Russian from seed

Sow thinly 1cm deep 45cm apart in well cultivated soil. Alternatively, sow indoors late winter early spring in 7cm pots at 20C.

Aim to sow 0.49 inches (1.25 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 4.68 inches (12.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 13°C / 55°F to ensure good germination.
