Edible and ornamental, this plant grows stems up to 1 meter (1 yard) long or longer. The leaves are medium green, large and nearly circular. The leaves are held upright. The leaves and flowers are edible, and have a zippy, peppery flavor. Immature seeds are also edible, and are sometimes used a a substitute for capers. Listed as an invasive plant in many areas, including New Zealand and Hawaii.
