  • Medium

Moist well drained soil in full sun. Best results when grown in lean soil.1

Plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Milkmaid is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures. Milkmaid needs a loamy, sandy and clay soil with a ph of 6.1 to 7.8 (weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil).

Growing Milkmaid from seed

Soaking seeds overnight and/or scarifying may speed up germination.

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 1.95 inches (5.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.5 inches (1.27 cm).

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Milkmaid about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Milkmaid

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Milkmaid is a hardy plant.
