How to grow Rose 'Golden Showers'

  • Partial Sun

  • Medium

Avoid pruning for the first two years after planting to allow the long canes of this climber to develop.

Shade tolerant. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Can be pruned to maintain a shorter habit. 1

Plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Golden Showers is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea). Planting Golden Showers in loamy soil with a ph of between 4.5 and 8.0 is ideal for as it does best in moderately acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Golden Showers from seed

Golden Showers is a hybrid variety of rose. As such, it will not reliably grow true to type from seed.

Transplanting Golden Showers

As Golden Showers is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
