How to grow Daikon radish 'Minowase'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Minowase is generally regarded as a tender plant, so remember to ensure that temperatures are mild before moving outdoors. Minowase needs a loamy and clay soil with a ph of 5.5 to 6.8 (weakly acidic soil).

Growing Minowase from seed

Plant 3-6 weeks before first frost.

Aim to sow 0.47 inches (1.2 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 1.95 inches (5.0 cm). For optimal germination, soil temperature should be a minimum of 13°C / 55°F.

Transplanting Minowase

Minowase is tender, so ensure you wait until all danger of frost has passed in your area before considering planting outside.

Harvesting Minowase

Ripe daikon can reach 24-inches long. Make sure you are careful pulling it up not to break it.

This variety tends to mature and be ready for harvest in late autumn.
