How to grow Daikon radish 'Miyashige'

Enjoys a full sun position in your garden and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Miyashige is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. Miyashige needs a loamy and clay soil with a ph of 5.5 to 6.8 (weakly acidic soil).

Growing Miyashige from seed

Work the soil at least 15-20 inches before planting and assure there are no stones.

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 0.98 inches (2.5 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.47 inches (1.2 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 13°C / 55°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Miyashige

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Miyashige is a tender plant.

Harvesting Miyashige

This variety sets 15-inch roots, sometimes larger.

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by late autumn.
