Tomato 'Mallorquin'

Solanum lycopersicum

Mallorquin is a variety of Tomato which is a member of the Solanum family. Its botanical name is Solanum lycopersicum 'Mallorquin'. 'Mallorquin' is considered a hybrid cultivar.

A greenhouse tomato that didn’t do very well outside during the summer of 2011. In the greenhouse it fared better but I think it needs more heat than a cold GH can provide during a cold British summer.

I found the fruit rather tasteless/insipid but they eventually formed a good size in the GH but outside they were small & misshapen & the crop was very poor.

This variety is an Fruit that typically grows as an Annual, which is defined as a plant that matures and completes its lifecycle over the course of a single year. Mallorquin is known for growing to a height of approximately 2.00 metres (6.50 feet). This variety tends to bloom in mid summer.

Spain is believed to be where Mallorquin originates from.

Mallorquin Tomato is normally fairly low maintenance and quite easy to grow, as long as a level of basic care is provided throughout the year. Being aware of the basic soil, sun and water preferences will result in a happier and healthier plant.
