How to grow Tomato 'Green Sausage'

Feed plants regularly with a high potash tomato feed once the first flowers have set.

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Green Sausage is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. Green Sausage requires a loamy soil with a ph of 5.0 - 6.0 - it grows best in moderately acidic soil to weakly acidic soil.

Growing Green Sausage from seed

Sow in pots of moist seed compost and cover with a 1cm layer of compost or vermiculite.Place in a propagator or warm place and keep at a constant temperature of between 18-20degrees C. After sowing do not exclude light as this helps germination.Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged.
Germination will usually take 7-10 days.

Start seeds indoors six weeks before last frost date.

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 0.78 inches (2.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.78 inches (2.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 12°C / 54°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Green Sausage

Transplant seedlings, when large enough to handle, into 7.5cm pots. Plant in final situation when 20cm tall, 45cm apart. Needs no staking or side shooting.
