I’m following Golden Gate Gardening—-digging pits to 8", then building up hills gradually, to get the most verticality out of this tiny space. I don’t know the type, a red salad sort. I did what GGG says is the English way (appropriate around here) and planted whole egg-sized potatoes.

What’s dangerous is that they are not “certified disease-free,” they are simply potatoes from my CSA. Well, I’ve got them confined in a spot, and if it all goes haywire, I’ll grow sumpin else there.
