spidra's Sweet Cherry 'Royal Lee' Progeny x 20

Plant: Wild Cherry (Prunus avium) | Variety: Royal Lee | Day 199 | 0 |

My first cherry crop has been a disaster due to rain splitting. I decided to get at least a little bit from it by trying to germinate the pits. I’ve put them in a ziploc bag in the fridge. There’s a damp towel inside to keep them moist. I’m told it’s not all that hard to get them to germinate. I’ll be having them in the fridge for at least 2 months because that’s how long it takes.

Hopefully some of the children will be low-chill like their parents. Also hopefully, at least some of them will produce palatable fruit. I need to learn how to bonsai fruit trees. I’ve seen some at shows and it’s a decent solution to trying to grow fruit trees in not much space. I don’t have space for this many trees!

Parent is a Zaiger Genetics introduction. Low-chill cherry pollinated by Minnie Royal and a pollenizer for Minnie Royal. It produces cherries on short stems.
