Stripey Cat's Broad Bean 'The Sutton'
Vicia faba
Poor germination – possibly too warm. Plants grew very well, flowered heavily and set. However, more than two months on, the beans are still tiny – most are needle or matchstick sized, and the biggest are still thinner than a filet bean and a couple of inches long. The plants are suffering badly from rust, too, despite me picking off infected leaves – I believe that’s soil-borne, and may be stunting the growth?
