bluepenguin's Mini Jade

Plant: Jade (Crassula ovata) | Day 233 | 0 | Happy

Crassula argentea compacta, or “Mini Jade” has leaves that are smaller and more rounded than other jade plants. The leaves are more densely arranged along the stems, and arranged in opposing pairs. Forms a thick, branching elephantine trunk topped with a canopy of shiny green leaves. Leaves become beautifully red when exposed cooler temperatures. Dense floral masses of white star-shaped flowers appear in winter months. The jade plant is a popular subject for bonsai training due to the inherent gnarly character of the thickened trunk and the ease with which it can be pruned and trained. An excellent plant for brightly lit areas in the house, patio and in more temperate climes can be planted in the garden or landscape. Porous soil with adequate drainage. Bright light to full sun. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Protect from frost.
