An early Japanese variety of fine flavor with small, tender, egg-shaped fruits about 5in. long. Sets well in the Mid-Atlantic including cool, short season areas. Seedlings are very vigorous and become established quickly. More tolerant of flea beetles than other varieties. Foliage is green with purple veins.
Striking plants with purple tinge to leaf and stem. Lots of 3-inch, oval black/purple fruit. Very early producer. Does well in containers. Rare heirloom
