It’s either Gynura pseudochina var. hispida or segetum. The tag on the plant said that it was the segetum but the leaf shape didn’t tally.

I notice you grow your Gynura in your herbs and spices garden – what do you use it for? I have a Gynura aurantiaca which I bought merely for the cool furry leaves, but I’d love to know if it can be used for something other than looking cuddly.

This one can be used as a herb – boiled with water to counter medical problems like hypertension and cholesterol (Malay and Indonesian folk medicine use this plant for it).

Gynura aurantiaca is only ornamental. There are other plants of the Gynura genus that are edible. But Gynura aurantiaca is not edible.

    G. aurantiaca is pretty hairy isn’t it… you’d have a hard time taking it!

Definitely. Too hairy. One of my friends had a revelation: The edible Gynura species have smooth leaves, the non-edible hairy ones.
