Rescued a Goji Berry from the desert where it has survived since 1869 when it was planted by the Chinese workers that laid the transcontinental railroad. For the last century it has survived on about 9" of water per year. That’s one drought hardy plant. It’s growing in my garden because I was intending to transplant it to a different place in the desert, but for now I’m keeping it close to home. The building and it’s foundations that this was planted around have long since been reclaimed by the desert. The colony in the desert has expanded to approximately 50 feet wide.
15 June 2012. Planted two more plants that came from a different location along the railroad tracks.
