Seeds from swap?
Row planted in 2011 did not fare well, but there were serious weather problems that affected all the early sown beans. This year try it as an ornamental outside the fence.

Try for a seed spacing of at approx. 3.9 inches (10.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 1.95 inches (5.0 cm) if planning to sow direct.
Runner bean normally tends to reach to a mature height of 40.0 cm [imperial: 1.30 feet] so ensure you have enough space in your garden for this plant.
Remember to water moderately.
A soil ph of between 6.0 and 6.8 is ideal for Runner bean as it does best in acidic soil so test your soil acidity often.
