I planted the seeds (4) on Sept 11 into cardboard centres of toilet rolls. I had them sitting under the back verandah for a month and no sign of life at all.

Decided to bring them into the kitchen on Oct 12. Two days later saw the first hint of green emerging from the seed mixture I had used. Now it is 3 days old, about 30mm high and looks like this (see pic). Second one just looking over the rim to check out its surroundings.

May 2012:

I have been very lax with my updates on the garden – especially the vegetables.

I raised the seeds in the tubes from toilet rolls. Four seeds planted, four seedlings emerged and were successfully transplanted to the garden when all danger of frost had past.
