A friend of mine from work gave me a leaf from his nopal cactus in November of 2009. It was winter and for a long time, it sat in a plastic bag on the front porch. Finally, Jas and I planted it in what would be our succulent garden. It’d been transplanted at least 2 times before we were happy with it’s placement hehe.

This plant pretty much took off from the second we put it in the ground and it hasn’t stopped since. O.o

I was curious about the nopales that some people eat because I had never had it before. That’s why my friend gave me a leaf from his plant to grow my own. I have yet to experience the flavor of a nopal leaf or even cooking it. I think I’ll wait until the plant gets a little bigger before I stop chopping it up. ;)
