Oh dear. I spent Saturday pushing my mum around the Johnson’s Garden Centre near Boston, and I could not resist some of the gorgeous plants.
Still sad that the Red passionflower never took off, I somehow found myself drawn to the climbers, and by gum there were some gorgeous passionflowers…
I had a devil of a time choosing which one, but ended up with a bountiful purple one rather than a lovely white one. I took a picture of the white Passiflora caerulea ‘Constance Elloit’ to remind me that I want one, If I ever find a space to put another one… In the end, the purple one won because it flowered for much longer, was less vigorous, and was known to have lots of blooms. I’m such a sucker for flowers.
Yeah, I know, another one for the pink/purple colour scheme. Sigh.

The white passionflower is especially beautiful, I think it is too cold here for them except as an annual. What is it about mauve and pink? I look around my garden and the base colour after greens are mauve and pink, most of the blues are mauvy blues, and I am not sure how the pinks snuck in, other than dianthus pinks which I love.

Yes, I was really torn by the ‘Constance Elliot’, it was so beautiful, but I could not get enough information about it. I was worried that it was not one of the hardier ones, and might go the same was as the red passionflower.
I have decided that you can not get away from pink and purple. Any other flower colour is obviously a figment of the imagination ;-)
