End of season update: Although I got a few cucumbers from this and the other planting of Straight-8. Groundhogs or chipmunks or something got most of them.

The plastic mulch really kept the weeds down in the row. Hoeing between the rows kept the weeds down until the cucumber plants started spreading and made it more and more difficult to hoe. I probably should have put down newspaper and grass clippings or leaf mulch between the rows but I didn’t think of it

Today I pulled up the plastic mulch and dug over the cucumber rows to prepare them for winter and next spring.
