Note: Sarah Raven seeds 2010, sowed in August under cover and left in coldframe over winter. Were doing ok but by Feb most had vanished.
Update. These took ages to grow, not lots of adverse weather though, but they started to have flower buds in July didn’t open until mid September. Really lovely though, wavering between bright and dark wine colours at different stages. Most are planted in with the Dark Sweet Pea mix but a few are also in beside the Claire Austin Rose.
2nd attempt;
8 in 8 small cells west window
2 each in 4 mid cells east window
4 in the pot with the dark sweet pea mix*
‘Chat Noir’ is an erect, branching, biennial or short-lived perennial with oblong to spoon-shaped, mid-green leaves and, in summer, solitary, fragrant, white-tipped reddish-black flowers developing conspicuous violet stamens.
