Its unusual, kinky foliage displays zesty yellow tips, producing a striking effect against the red bark of the stems. Some of the short, twisted branch tips become cristate, eventually developing flattened, curved cockscombs that spiral back on themselves. The somewhat open, rounded form grows as wide as tall. This colorful sport of ‘Tsatsumi’ was selected at Bucholz & Bucholz in Gaston, Oregon. Prefers moist, well-drained soil with afternoon shade in the summer.
