Happibun's Red Robin - Herb Robert

Plant: Herb Robert (Geranium robertianum) | 1 | Happy

This is a new one to me :-)

I have found a very pretty and delicate pink flower growing in a few places in the front garden. It looks like a member of the geranium family with it’s 5 petalled flowers and deeply lobed leaves. I have seen this flower growing in the wild near the river, and even in some of the more dilapidated walls around town. I hope that I will be able to identify it, as it is a welcome volunteer.

Update: My neighbour, Pat, put me right on this one. Here is the Wiki page about it from Wikipedia.

In many places, this is considered an invasive weed, and hard to eradicate. Huh! I like it.

Indeed this does look like a geranium. The flowers very closely resemble those of Geranium sylvaticum, but alas the foliage looks different.
