jenniferworthen's Watermelon personal Care Instructions

Try for a seed spacing of at approx. 8.12 feet (2.50 metres) and sow at a depth of around 0.39 inches (1.0 cm) if planning to sow direct.

Ensure you have enough space in your garden for this plant - Watermelon is known for growing to a height of approximately 45.0 cm (that's 1.46 feet in imperial).

Your garden is in don't know light: Watermelon enjoys a full sun position, so make adjustments where necessary.

Your garden's USDA Hardiness Zone (8b) is within the ideal range for Watermelon. The recommended range is between Zone 4 and 9.

Ensure your soil has a ph of between 6.5 and 7.5 as Watermelon is a acidic to alkaline soil loving plant.

Your own personal watermelon? Neat! Is it a family heirloom? Or just seeds saved from a yummy melon which you’re growing out? :)

Haha! Personal sized! I should have been more specific. :) A friend of my husband’s gave us two little watermelons last summer, and I saved a bunch of seeds. I don’t know what variety they were, but they were SO delicious!

    Ok. TY for clarification.
Sounds like it may be the Thai miniature watermelon, then! That’s the most common mini-watermelon grown and sold in the USA. Where I live, it is also just about the only watermelon that can handle our tropical diseases and pests! :)

That may be it then! I’ll have to get my husband to ask his friend. I’m also growing some small pumpkins from seeds that I saved from a gift from the same person, and it would be nice to know precisely what it is I’m growing. :)
