from the website www.hostalibrary.org “15” tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. AGM.
Alex J. Summers Distinguished Merit Hosta 1987 (Diana Grenfell).
TF1x7. 50-90% shade.
One of the bluest cultivars. Very neat, somewhat horizontal habit. Pale lavender flowers in mid July. 1991 Midwest Blue Award. Medium size, deep, chalky blue, beauty.
This 2’ wide clump of round blue leaves (pointed when young) is recognized as one of the all time finest blue hostas. H. ‘Halcyon’ holds its color well, is a vigorous grower, has good substance, is durable, and just like your Timex watch, it takes a lickin’ and… you know the rest! The clump is topped with lots of blue lavender flowers in summer!
This is one of the best medium “blues” in the Hosta world, growth habit is very pleasing to the eye and the plant exhibits superior vigor. Leaves are blue-green, flat with prominent veins and have heavy substance. Lavender flowers compliment the blue leaves midseason.
Leaves are a bright powder blue, with very heavy substance. The heavy leaves holds all leaf eating insects at bay! This cultivar requires time to develop its mature shape. This is one of the ‘blue’ hostas which holds its color long into the summer. (Plant 38×20)
Heavy, chalky blue heart-shaped leaves form a beautiful, symmetrical mound. Our pick for the best medium size blue hosta. Near white to pale lavender flowers. TF1x7.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Hosta with a more beautiful blue color than this one, a chalky, powdery blue in spring, turning to a deep blue in the summer, and holding up well in the fall after most Hostas have turned to mush. It’s a medium size plant, about 3 feet across in a mature clump, so it’s not going to scream for attention like ‘Blue Angel’ or the many sieboldiana hybrids. The leaves are heart-shaped and heavily ribbed, a bit smaller than my out-stretched hand. They arch and overlap, forming a neat, symmetrical mound topped by pale lavender flowers in the summer. This is definitely one of my favorite Hostas.
Spear-shaped thick blue heavily ribbed leaf. Violet flower. Good grower. Eric Smith (TF1 x 7).
The heavily ribbed, gray-blue leaves make this one quite lovely. Lavender flowers.
TF1x7 Blue scale 2.
Deep blue-green foliage forming a dense, forming a medium
sized mound, good slug resistance, pale lavendar flowers
open on 18" scapes in August"
