Today I thinned the green stuff and cooked my first taste of the collards and mustard greens. Temperatures have warmed a bit but the ground remains a cool 73 degrees.

Sub-Urban Containment garden , Ornamental garden , Fountain Slicing Cucumbers Harvesting, Shasta Daisy III ...
Today I made the final, massive, pepper harvest. Green peppers and a few remaining pepperocini. I also harvested quite a few cherry and Roma tomatoes. Soil temperature remains a warm 85 F even as nights become cooler.

Can’t complain about rain this year, we’ve had plenty of it. This week the Country Garden also produced its first haul of beautiful, pink, Mortgage Lifter tomatoes. Word has it they are delicious!

My first two cantaloupes nearly popped right off the vine today. It marks the first time I’ve been able to protect the cantaloupes to maturity. I also gathered a few cherry tomatoes which have made a stunning recovery since the deer damage. As always I gathered a sack load of cucumbers.
