Not sure what type this is. A neighbor plucked it out of her yard and gave it to me.

I’ve let this go to seed.

lontra's Mystery Lettuce 2 Care Instructions

If you would like to sow this plant directly, try 0.49 inches (1.25 cm) deep with a guideline distance of 5.85 inches (15.0 cm).

Ensure you have enough space in your garden for this plant - Lettuce is known for growing to a height of approximately 20.0 cm (that's 7.8 inches in imperial).

Your garden has full sun light - try to position in a partial sun location instead.

Your garden has clay soil: try to position in a loam soil for the best result.

Remember to water often.

Your garden's USDA Hardiness Zone (10b) is not within the ideal known range for Lettuce. The recommended range is between Zone 4 and 9. You may have to reassess this planting for suitability in your garden.

A soil ph of between 6.2 and 6.8 is ideal for Lettuce as it does best in acidic soil so test your soil acidity often.

Lettuce tends to be susceptible to Cucumber Mosaic Virus, Snails, and Slugs so keep a note of any developing symptoms.

If this is an heirloom, my guess is “Marvel of Four Seasons”, a delicious rapid growing slowbolt lettuce which is resistant to drought, with a large head, crinkly, green. Shows red tinges in parts exposed to cool weather. If it’s hybrid, then it could be just about anything.

Thank you for your input! If it is an heirloom, I’m hoping to find out from this weekend when my neighbor has an open house. She has so much stuff going that I’m not sure she’ll remember what it is.
