You can’t buy long beans in Albany, New York. The Asian community is too small and the few Asian markets are teeny little things. I can buy hot bean paste in San Diego when I visit my folks and bring it back in my luggage, but that won’t do with vegetables. I have no idea if long beans will work here, but we once bought some from a farmer’s market in Brunswick, Maine, so they should work.
I made a teepee trellis and planted 4-5 beans on each of 4 poles. I have no idea if it will work. I treated them with innoculant but didn’t presoak them. It was really warm when I planted them, but promptly got really cold afterwards, so I may have to try planting more again if they don’t sprout.
