If sowing directly, aim to sow 0.39 inches (1.0 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 8.12 feet (2.50 metres).
Ensure you have enough space in your garden for this plant - Watermelon is known for growing to a height of approximately 45.0 cm (that's 1.46 feet in imperial).

Your garden's USDA Hardiness Zone (7a) is within the ideal range for Watermelon. The recommended range is between Zone 4 and 9.
A soil ph of between 6.5 and 7.5 is ideal for Watermelon as it does best in acidic to alkaline soil so test your soil acidity often.
