I went back and forth on what to plant in this spot. Sometimes I thought it was a sunny spot, but then I do think it gets a lot of shade. This is what I consider to be the start of my shade border, it is along the side of my yard on the front yard side of the fence.
The first plant I bought to go there was a Forever and Ever ‘Double Pink’, but the more I thought about it… it is a new variety, I don’t know how it will do, this will be sort of a prominant place in the yard… I decided to go tried (and trite) and true… Endless Summer.
I dug all the roots out from the area that it is planted in and there is a ‘Fireworks’ clematis planted just behind it.

I was looking at some of these the other day and wondering about getting one. The thing is that the border I want to put it in is rather dry. How drought tolerant are these?

Supposedly they are drought tolerant once established, think 5 years, but until then I’ve found them to be VERY thirsty plants. Currently my inground Endless Summers are watered every day, sometimes twice a day when it is very hot.

Thanks for that Iechris, I can see that I would have my work cut out for me if I had one then. I sometimes have to go away for a week or more, and so what I plant has to be hardy enough to survive without TLC for a while.
You are obviously dedicated to your hydrangeas, and it does show. They look lovely.
