Beets Harvesting: Still eating beets
I’m still eating beets and beet greens. I really love the way beets never seem to get maggoty like carrots and turnips can, and the leaves never get infested with aphids. They are wonderfully pest free.

Beets Harvesting
Have gone through the row for the first harvesting. I canned 7 half pints of pickled beets and froze 5 quarts of beet greens. It took five hours. Most of that time was spent standing in front of the sink washing the greens. I’m very meticulous about greens. I wash every leaf individually, both sides. Nothing grosser than finding a catipillar in one’s dinner.
I was going to go through the row a second time, but Ron beat me to it and pulled a couple of bagsful for friends. This entry is about Renemarie's Beets planting in the Gail's half acre garden garden

Beets Time to thin
No true leaves yet. I weeded them over the weekend. Now they just need to be thinned.
