Volunteer squashes—-probably winter.
I now think I have at least -three- five squash varieties.
1. Huge leaves, ~18" diameter. The leaves are pentagonal, with smooth edges. Flowers are yellow. Bases of female flowers look like kelp bladders. I’m thinking this is a hubbard
2. Medium leaves, ~10" diameter. The leaves are sort of pentagonal, but slightly lobed. Flowers are orange. The bases of the female flowers look something like marshmallows. I’m seeing the beginnings of a squash, and its looking vaguely acorn shaped. But it doesn’t look much like an acorn squash
3. Medium-sized leaves, ~11" diameter. The leaves are sort of pentagonal, but slightly lobed. Flowers are yellow. Bases of female flowers look like the end of a zucchini. I am starting to get a squash, and it might be buttercup.
4. The vine looks exactly like 3, but the squash are looking like potential turban-type things. Although they’re still quite small and could change shape as they grow.
5. A little squash with orange flowers and deeply serrated leaves
