Back to myfolia for a new year...
Just shared myfolia with a friend and it spurred me to check my own profile, which I didn’t keep track of last year…now I will have to figure out all that I have done and insert it correctly. My new year plans are a native plant (edible/medicinal where I can, plants for the birds, but...Cloudy 28°C / 82°F -

The dusty miller plants are super happy! The lavender (in the middle) is growing slowly but surely. I potted up the garlic chives, parsley, cilantro, and basil So funny story about the garlic chives – I wasn’t intending to repot them this soon (they are still tiny!) but I knocke...

Pothos , Lithops , indoor garden , and Orchid Cactus
Cloudy 32°C / 90°F
I’ve been away from folia for almost a month! Things have been super busy with my husband job searching and finishing up his masters and a lot of other things. I have a lot of things to catch up on, so I’ll go quickly: I repotted the lithops. I’ve also noticed the leaves begin...

Rear garden
Rainy 9°C / 48°F
Plenty of jobs and goals achieved this past month except one, the writing of more muses here! The New small shed is up and in use and an old dismantled greenhouse is awaiting erection at the allotment, waiting for a day of no rain. New potatoes planted out and now my main Greenhouse seeds are sow...

Grape Vine and Fruit Bearing garden
The vine will be able to be pruned back even more this year. 2011 was a banner year for it. Most of the fruit was disease free and the berries very large. There was just too much of it! I had previously left over 20 main vines growing but will cut that back to only 10 or less. The fewer the bette...Sunny 7°C / 45°F

Leucosceptrum japonicum and Shade Spaces garden
This gift bloomed it’s first year in the ground. Pretty tiny white blooms in clusters on long stalks. The leaves are still green as we’ve had an incredibly mild winter. I let the blooms dry on the plant and scattered the seeds around the plant a week ago just in case they will grow on...Sunny 7°C / 45°F

Storms 26°C / 79°F
Well, there aren’t too many blooms left but there are a few… and a few favorites. Both of the Caryopteris are nice, and despite it’s reputation I do like the Japanese Anemone which has been fairly well behaved in my garden. I am sorry to say that neither the Zinnias nor the Sunf...

Container garden
After getting home from the allotment I still had the urge to garden so I emptied out some depleted containers into the City yard-waste bin and tidied up the parking area plantings. I wish this rain would let up so that I can get some real gardening done!Rainy 17°C / 63°F

Cottonwood garden
I was able to spend a couple of hours at the allotment today and spent most of it weeding, and thanks to the straw mulch on the beds most of the weeds came out easily. I thinned the sunchokes and tackled the interior paths before getting chased out by the rain. The peas seem relieved to be staked...Rainy 17°C / 63°F

Garden 2011 Plan: Early February
Sage and Windowsill gardenLast year my garden had some great successes, and some miserable failures. I made a lot of changes and expansions to the garden in 2010, and some of the plants I thought were surefire wins were terrible losses, and vice versa. On the whole I had better luck with perennial plantings, with the exce...Windy -5°C / 23°F
