    Dahlia 'Dwarf Double Mixed'

Dahlia 'dwarf double mixed' and Balcony garden
Today I sowed a packet of Dahlia ‘Dwarf Double Mixed’ on our balcony today. I can’t grow Dahlias very well on the balcony because of the earwigs. All the earwigs in the town seem to congregate on my balcony as all my plants end up in tatters. I thought I would try & grow som...

Iris histrioides - Orchid Iris 'George' Blooming and Heritage garden
I love these. They are very early and such a pretty shade of purple with those very distinct markings. They are only about 5 inches tall. I think the cluster is definitely larger than last year.

A very wet and dismal morning to start off with but the sun is trying to break through 08:34, having a good tidy up today on the balcony harvesting the last cuttings from the salad trays and sowing more, I know I should have done the sowing a couple of weeks ago but, I have not been all that well...

    Acacia Cognata (Green Mist)

Acacia Cognata (Green Mist) and Frontyard garden
Three plants received and planted at different times. First one (1st photo) planted in 2003 under the front letter box, that’s one plant. It has grown to cover the area and the sheer wall in the photo is due to the gate being opened against it – It doesn’t grow like that :) On...

    Very little, very cute

Helianthus annuum - Sunflower - 'Teddy Bear' Blooming and Corner garden
I can see why they call them ‘Teddy Bear.’ They are only about 6 inches tall and are supposed to be dwarf, though I think they should be a bit taller than that, probably stunted by the flooding. The flower is very puffy with lots of petals.

    Happy little dwarf wallflowers

Wiley wallflowers Planting Out and 1. Formal Front garden
The local market has a flower stall that sells wallflowers in bunches of approximately 10 for a quid, so I bought two bunches. I was told these are dwarf wallflowers, so I expect that they won’t be as tall as the common all garden ones. I can’t say much more than that as they did not have any mor...
