Larger 'homes' needed

So…my little Tomato seedlings are ready to be transplanted – or is it potted on – about four inches high with lots of lovely leaves. Yesterday I thought they looked a little tired and must need a larger home so trotted off to local store for larger pots. Then, what size? I realised I did not have a clue. Came home with nothing and started looking around the house for ‘free’ containers. I have amassed a group of strange plastic food tubs (now I thank Husband for not throwing these away) polystyrene and plastic beakers, small cardboard boxes etc. I am not too sure of what size to use and of course I just know I have seen threads here on Folia about this, but can I find them now? Of course I can’t :(

It is a cold. dismal day right now so after domestic chores are done (and I shall make sure there are not many) I’m gonna get my hands dirty!

I repot my Tomatoes into deep 5" pots so that the roots have plenty of room to grow.

All done…..I had no idea how delightfully messy this could be. Started off outside in the sunshine with potting mix, containers, newspaper etc. It was too too cold so brought everything indoors. Two hours later all done, along with trampled in potting mix in the kitchen carpet, starter seed pots more or less everywhere, (the kitty girl was ‘distracted’ by them as I let her take over that part of the process of repotting) and me with dirt well and truly into my fingernails. I loved it all. Two of the tomato plants are not labelled, don’t know how I managed this but oh well…they will be a surprise! I found that the cardboard boxes worked well, I just cut them down to a 5 inch (ish) size.
