Davis Station, Antarctica: Hydroponics & Mission patches
Friday, 11 Feb 11 17°C / 63°F
Photographic proof that flight0001’s mission patches have completed their mission, and in a most appropriate way. The shots were taken in the Hydroponics area at Davis Station, Antarctica, an area that DS has undertaken to look after in his copious spare time scoff! while he’s down there for the year.
During the day his primary role is working as a “Meteorology Technical Officer” servicing related equipment, he also rises at 3a.m (or thereabouts) and sneaks out to do the weather observations and launch the ozone/radio son balloons for the high altitude weather reports.
When that’s all done then the other duties come to the fore and Hydroponics is one of them.
- Tomatoes – with fruit!
- Proof of more tomatoes
- and in a different lighting…
- No snow – it’s cold but too dry.
