Hiya Folks ... Long time no see!

Monday, 31 Jan 11 Sunny -18°C / 0°F

Well, it’s been far too long … so long, that I’ve darned near forgotten how to even write a journal, but I’m finally ready to jump back in :) Thanks to everyone who sent messages – if I haven’t got back to yet, I will try to do so in the next few days!

A Quick Update …
Aerogardens: Currently empty, but not for long. I ordered and received 3 of the refillable grow your own kits and will be starting all three of the gardens with MY-OWN-SEEDS!!! They gardens are cleaned and ready to go and I cannot WAIT to get started!!!

Indoor Plants: The tea plant is doing just fine! I has a dozen or so leaves and while growing slowly is growing well. It seems very happy on the south window kitchen ledge and require minimal care. I purchased a couple new hanging ivy baskets, almost thoroughly killed the lot of it off but have since managed to root several half dead-clipping in water and am well on my way to restoring them. Currently on the lookout for a fern and a couple coffee plants (still!) and a replacement goldfish plant (since mine bit the dust).

Worms: Also doing great! DH has come full circle in his opinion of the worms. I heard him telling a friend about them the other day – explaining how wonderful they are. I have a lovely full box of compost all ready for the spring.

Water Garden: Was a brilliant success last summer. I’ve decided to take it up a degree this year with a larger container and more plants. Eric (the goldfish) came inside to live for the winter, but has since been given a new home in our brand new 30G tank, as well as some friends, Polly, Shadow & Cava.

Kitchen Garden: I’ve started shopping a bit late this year, but have some wonderful new seeds on order/in mind. I’m planning on changing things up a bit this year as I’ve joined a wonderful CSA program that will hopefully provide many of the ‘staples’ and leave a bit more room for some of the veggies I’ve been wanting to try, but haven’t had the space for (popcorn!?!!)

Cheers Everyone! Cannot wait to see what you’re all up to these days!

Good to see you back on Folia! I had to look up the goldfish plant, that’s really neat! Good to know Eric is well and that you’ve joined a CSA.

Great to hear from you again! I’m excited that DH has become a thorough convert to worm composting, and has now entered the recruiting stage. We have a tiny water garden in our new yard, and I expect that it will involve a learning curve; I haven’t really started thinking about that yet. I’ll be growing popcorn for the first time this year too – strawberry popcorn – I’ve had my eye on it for a while, and finally have the space! Yay for increased experimentation opportunities. :)
