Seed Bank season is in full swing. It feels like I need to hire somebody so I don’t have to spend my whole weekends checking over emails, and cataloguing, and databasing, and fiddling with seeds, etc.
Oh who am I kidding, I love it! That’s why I spend all weekend doing this kind of stuff!
It’s that time of year when I’m needing help to grow out varieties. The response this year has been really fantastic, but I still have a few varieties left that need a shepherd to help grow out enough quantity to bank, and if there’s enough left over, give out to people who are interested in growing them next season (yep, I’m always thinking at least one year ahead – kind of have to in this game!).
Here are the varieties that need some help:
- Tomato ‘Persimmon’
- Tomato ‘Yellow Perfection’
- Tomato ‘Russian Persimmion’
- Tomato ‘Orange Jubilee’
I made up a little page over here on how to become a seed bank grower. If you’re interested in a variety (or two!) you can send me a message via the form there, or through here on Folia.
I am also raising money for the seed bank again via selling seeds on Etsy. If you’re interested, you can view what’s currently up here – more will be added this weekend coming up (or over the week, depending on when I have time!). I’ll have some Zapotec Pleated and Stupice up, as well as some bean varieties and a few extra tomato varieties.
Last but not least – I thought it would be fun to make a little group here on Folia to talk about not just my seed bank, but seed banking in general and how any home gardener can get into it!
It’s a good way for the growers who are here on Folia to keep in touch as well, but also talk about upcoming projects and initiatives the seed bank will be doing.
Interested? Join the group here!
That’s all my shameless plugging for now.
If you’ll excuse me, I have seeds to fiddle with.
