A new growing year.

I have decided to take part in a small moon planting trial along with some friends on another growing site. I will be sowing 10 onion Senshyu seeds today ( a non root day) and 10 more next thursday (a root sowing day) and we will compare the growth until harvest. They will have the same compost, watering, feeding etc and they will grow side by side. Not grown onions from seed before or by the moon ( except for a very short time, when I got fed up) so will report back as to progress.
The weather here has been attrocious, deep snow and temperatures well below freezing. Harvested a kilo of new potatoes for Christmas lunch, slightly frosted but very tasty plus parsnips from the garden and runner beans from the freezer. Very satisfying. The snow has all gone now but there is a chance it may be back in the new year so I need to try and finish the tidying up and finish the new raised bed, just in case.
The other news is that I have put my name down for an allotment, only 2 others on the waiting list so my hopes are high. The site (there are 4 in our village) is just 200 yards from my gate and I keep on looking over the gate and making plans.
