Too many basil seeds have sprouted!

OK, so I just finished cutting off the extra basil seedlings. I though I had planted 3-5 seeds in each of my jiffy peat pellets, but it turns out some had 10! It was a beautiful sight to see so many little plants growing, but alas, I had to cut them and I only left 1-2 per pellet.
When I was deciding who was going and who was staying, I noticed the “bud” of where the true leaves will grow in. 70% of the remaining plants had them, the others were still too young.
On a side note, I was curious as to what young basil taste like since I had seen it before in a fancy-schmancy salad – or garnish – and it tasted very lemony and peppery. Good!
